Cost: This course is offered freely without monetary barriers. If at the end of the course you feel you have the capacity to offer a donation in exchange for the teachings there will be an opportunity to do so. This is the concept of Dana.
Meditation is a potent practice to deal with the everyday struggles of life, assist with the healing of past wounds and to more deeply connect with your sense of purpose in the world.
Mindfulness meditation (Awareness or Insight meditation) is based on the teachings of the Buddha but adapted to a completely secular framework. Most beneficially taught in this immersive way, this style of meditation cultivates embodied presence, kindness, and compassion and can be taught to almost anyone (even if you truly believe that you can’t meditate or have tried practices before but struggled to integrate them into your life!)
Our meditation course is a 6 week course, facilitated by Emily Rose, for beginners and those with some experience with meditation. Throughout the course participants will be introduced to practices to develop more awareness of their body, emotions and thoughts and to cultivate kindness and compassion. Students will finish this course with tools to: create their own meditation practice; be more able to deal with stresses and difficulties in daily life and; move through life with more awareness and ease.
Limited to 12 participants, this online course is live and interactive.
Each week we meet via Zoom to share experiences, receive teachings and practice meditation techniques.
Each class has space for questions and discussion as well as practice.
Participants will receive a comprehensive workbook with information, resources and reflection questions to support your learning and practice.
To get the most out of this course you should commit to a daily meditation practice which will be directed by Emily. Over these 6 weeks you will learn powerful meditation tools and complete a 40 day meditation practice to set you up with the skills to take this into your life.
Emily Rose is a certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher and has trained with renowned US teachers, Jack Kornfield & Tara Brach, who have been at the forefront of modern mindfulness & compassion practices, and sharing them with the Western world.
The course covers the following topics:
Week 1: Starting where we are: Understanding what meditation and mindfulness is
Week 2: Awakening awareness: Training the mind to stay present
Week 3: The two wings of mindfulness: Cultivating wisdom & compassion
Week 4: Learning to ride the waves: Dealing with difficult experiences
Week 5: Becoming the witness: Working with thoughts and beliefs
Week 6: Living with awareness: Taking mindfulness in to your life and into the world with purpose
